Earlier this year I did a cover illustration for the @writers_ex, "a community that supports under-resourced kids and youth to build their confidence and get excited about reading, writing and their own potential!"

This book is a collection of tales from the kids of ¿uuqinak’uuh (Grandview) Elementary School and was I ever thrilled and ready to accommodate the kids requests for some eerie art! I really enjoy doing illustrations like this :)

I really appreciated when journalist Mathias March

I really appreciated when journalist Mathias Marchal from @radiocanada / @cbcradiocanada reached out to discuss the ongoing issue with stolen Indigenous artwork, on websites like ShopPrideEarth(.com). This is just a small screen grab from a much larger article that sheds light on the situation and also the efforts of reformation on the Canadian Copyright Act. The original article is in French, but easily translated to English and I encourage you to check it out if you get the chance!

A new resource from the @endangeredlanguagesproject and the @firstpeoplesculturalcouncil is now available!

📖 “A Linguist's Code of Conduct" is a collection of thoughts, reflective questions and suggestions for linguists who are engaging in (or preparing to engage in) linguistic work with Indigenous peoples.
⁠ The aim of "A Linguist's Code of Conduct" is to provide a starting place for collaborative conversations about ethical language work, especially for non-Indigenous linguists working with Indigenous communities and languages. It is meant to offer a useful set of questions to discuss, ideas to keep in mind, and reflections on good conduct as a linguist. ⁠⁠
 While it was written by two North American authors (Dr. Anna Belew, non-Indigenous, and Dr. Amanda Holmes, Kanien'kehá:ka), with mostly a North American context in mind, we hope it can be useful to people working anywhere in the world. ⁠
 A huge shout-out to the amazing Chantelle Trainor-Matties (frettchanstudios.ca) for the beautiful artwork, "Gaaḵ (Raven)", that adorns the cover of this document! ⁠⁠

I'm so proud of the way my space turned out and I have to give a huge shout out to my husband Josh who was doing math all afternoon to get perfect spacing. He has such a good eye for hanging art and he helps out anyway he can so things run smoothly. ♥

It was also so good to meet up other artists like @art.by.audrat who flew in from Toronto to exhibit again. The connections made at these events are so special! Artists cheering each other on.

@artvancouver, Western Canada’s most prestigious art fair, and I had the opportunity to be a part of it again this year. Josh and I had a wonderful time. We met up with old friends, connected with new friends and sold my work to new and returning patrons! I sold a few of my paintings as well as some framed and unframed prints. My newest piece, "I'll have a Sazerac with That" made its debut at the show (proper post for that to come, but I'm referring to the gator painting in the center). I also parted with my "Pyramid of Animal Skulls" painting that has been with me for 5 years, which was bittersweet, but is the start of someone's new art collection in conjunction with two other pieces. Thank you so much for having me @artvancouver!
